Welcome
Fiona Hutchison-Barr is a Glasgow based Jewellery Designer and runs a boutique jewellery studio and shop in the fashionable and vibrant area of Finnieston, Glasgow. Using my extensive travel experience to influence the design and feel of my jewellery, I infuse a combination of tradition and modern jewellery making techniques.
All my jewellery is designed, created and crafted by hand. There is a selection currently in stock but I also produce one-off pieces and I have crafted many items for a wide variety of clients.
About Fiona
Design has always been an integral part of who I am. Having graduated in graphic design in 1993 after four years of study, I began working in the Art Department for film and television. With experience, I became an Art Director and worked on numerous BBC and ITV productions as well as being involved in several feature films.
After many years in the film industry I wished to use my creative and design skills in a more personal way.
Inspiration
I have always had a keen interest in jewellery and I therefore decided to spend three years studying Jewellery Design and Manufacture in Glasgow. Here, I gained an in-depth knowledge of gemmology and attained advanced stone setting methods such as chanel and pave.
This allowed me to incorporate my love for design with my love of jewellery and enabled me to learn and develop the specific skills and techniques to make my own pieces.
My inspiration comes from many sources and when I am not working in the studio, I often look to architure from all over the world for ideas.
The Collections
Influenced by my love for travel, my jewellery is as diverse and beautiful as the places that inspire it. Architecture, landscape, art and culture – the more I explored, the more my appreciation of the beauty found in all walks of life deepened.
From the fluid architectural lines found during my time in Japan, to the rustic textures found in Northern Italy – from the modern, clean lines of Bauhaus or the eclectic No. XLIII to the timeless elegance of the Bridal range. I hope you enjoy my work.
